Why Kratom?

We decided to make kratom available as a natural, effective solution for those who need something strong for reducing stress and anxiety, to help with depression and for those who want to use it socially as a mood enhancer and alternative to alcohol or pharmaceutical pain killers.

Although it’s natural and we believe it’s a healthier alternative, we refer to kratom as a potent plant because it’s just that, potent! It is incredibly effective, which is why kratom is traditionally used for pain relief and other therapeutic qualities, and today it is also enjoyed as a recreational mood-enhancer or antidepressant, an energiser or calmative, as well as for improving focus and for relieving stress and anxiety.

Kratom should be used with caution because not getting your personal dose correct or mixing it with other substances can lead to undesirable effects, such as strong nausea and drowsiness.

Our recommendations for a pleasant experience

We consider kratom a safe plant to use, but it is a biochemically complex plant, so what’s good for one person may not be good for another.

As with most new diet or lifestyle additions, rushing headlong into things is not advisable. Take the time to research, experiment and understand how your body responds to kratom. Use it wisely.

When first taking kratom we advise that you try it in a time and place where you can gauge the effects and not adversely affect your work or driving or any other potentially dangerous or inappropriate situation.

Dosage is key

Starting off slowly with 0.5g powder or 1 x 500mg capsules is recommended.

If you are not sensitive then you can try 2g or 4 x 500mg capsules.

Anything over 4g is considered a high dose which we don’t advise because each person reacts differently.

Mixing with other substances

It’s best to use kratom on its own without other substances, for example, recreational drugs and alcohol. On its own you can accurately gauge what dose of kratom is good for you, but also the interaction with other substances is difficult to predict for each individual, so we recommend that you avoid mixing.

Interactions with Medication

Kratom speeds up the rate at which the liver metabolises substances. This means that your usual dose of medication will not be effective for as long as you are accustomed to. Two examples where this would be important to note are contraceptives and antidepressants, but this applies to all medication.

If you are on any medication for health conditions, we would advise against using kratom at the same time, or consult your healthcare practitioner for advice.

Pregnancy

Kratom is not recommended to use while pregnant or breastfeeding. It is complex and can be difficult to predict effects in individuals who are not in these conditions, so in these cases we would advise against taking any risks.

Addiction to Kratom

Kratom has been used to ease addiction to more potent, addictive substances, however, excessive daily use leading to addiction is possible, the same way this can happen with coffee. It provides relief and a pleasant change of state that one can become too dependent on. When you start needing to increase your dose to feel the same effects, it’s time to take a break for a couple of weeks, to reset your tolerance levels. There is a suggestion that magnesium supplementation can reduce this build up of tolerance, but this has yet to be confirmed.

What to do if you take too much

Now that you are better informed after reading this information, it’s highly unlikely that you will take too much. In the event that you do experience unpleasant symptoms, in most cases it should pass, but it depends on how much you’ve taken as to how quickly this occurs. Remember to drink water to help it work through your system.

The feeling is not pleasant and can be different for each person, but generally it’s strong waves of nausea and drowsiness. Please seek medical attention if it is not subsiding or getting worse.

Unsure if you should take Kratom?
